04-05.08.2023 | Polish Bike Week, Karpacz

The first edition of the GOC Custom Bike Show took place as part of Polish Bike Week, an event included in the official HOG (Harley Owners Group™) calendar, which annually brought together several thousand motorcycles and tens of thousands of motoring enthusiasts in Karpacz. The builder competition was organized by Game Over Cycles and HD Tour, the organizers of Polish Bike Week.

A total of 81 motorcycles entered the competition. The event had an international character, as in addition to customizers from all over Poland, participants from the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia also came to Karpacz. “The machines that appeared in Karpacz could easily compete at the world’s largest competitions, which we ourselves have participated in, such as European Bike Week in Austria, Daytona Bike Week, or the Sturgis Rally in the USA,” Stanisław Myszkowski, head of Game Over Cycles, described his impressions after the event.

The indisputable winner of the competition was a motorcycle with a sidecar built by Waldemar Obiała from Koło (Greater Poland Voivodeship). The single-handedly built vehicle won three categories: Trike, Painting, and the most important one, Best of Show.

“I did all the work myself, including the design. Work on this motorcycle took about 2.5 years, but it was done intermittently, so normally the vehicle would have been completed much faster. When creating it, I was inspired by the 1920s era, especially in terms of the machine’s lines and appearance. I’m very happy that my motorcycle was recognized in such a highly competitive competition,” commented Waldemar Obiała, owner and builder of the award-winning machine.

The winner of each category received a trophy and prize packages from the event’s partners, Anest Iwata and Novol. Additional prizes were awarded to the winners of the following categories:

– Chopper/Bobber – leather motorcycle accessories (Piotr Lucky Lapandro)
– Modified Harley – custom exhausts from BT Choppers (GANGSTA M8 SLIP-ONS worth over 6,000 PLN)
– Special Jury Prize – service at Jack’s Motorcycles Garage
– Competition Partner Prize – a voucher for a stay at the five-star Tremonti Hotel in Karpacz
– Painting – personalized motorcycle helmet painting by one of Poland’s most respected airbrush artists, Piotr Parczewski, who has decorated helmets for Kamil Stoch, world champion and three-time Olympic ski jumping champion
– People’s Choice – an invitation to a 6-day trip around Spain’s Costa Blanca, sponsored by Eagle Motorcycles Rent & Travel
– Best of Show – a VIP invitation to the Custombike Show in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, the world’s largest custom motorcycle trade show, including accommodations and a leather seat by Piotr Lucky Lapandro.
